About Chaparral
Chaparral began as Fiberglass Fabricators in Fort Lauderdale, building its first hulls in 1964 and complete boats under its own name from 1965, founded by Buck Pegg and Reggie Rose. It moved to Nashville, Georgia in 1976 and has been there since. RPC bought the company in 1986 and spun it off as the publicly traded Marine Products Corporation in 2001, alongside the fishing brand Robalo. MasterCraft completed its acquisition of Marine Products in May 2026.
The current line runs about 19 to 32 feet: SSi and SSX sport boats, OSX outboards and the Surf series. Brokerage listings cover more ground, because Chaparral built Signature sport cruisers with cabins into the 2010s, so 30 to 40 footers do appear. They sit above the bargain brands and below Formula and Cobalt on finish and price, and used values follow that. Newer boats carry a lifetime limited hull warranty, so check whether it transfers, and on older sterndrives look at the drives, bellows and transom assembly first.
