A Maritime Legacy Over a Century in the Making

Captain Mike Neuman’s connection to the sea didn’t begin with a career choice — it began with a birthright. Mike is a fourth-generation mariner, born into a family that founded and operated a historic ferry boat and cruise business on Lake Erie, Ohio, in 1907. That century-old tradition of seamanship, service, and respect for the water runs through everything Mike does, and it’s a heritage he carries forward with unmistakable pride.

Two Decades of Professional Command

With more than 20 years of service as a Captain in the United States Merchant Marines, Mike has built a career defined by precision, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He holds an Unlimited Master’s License and First-Class Pilot endorsement — credentials that reflect the highest level of competence and trust in the maritime industry. Throughout his distinguished career, he commanded vessels of all sizes, earning the deep respect of peers and crew members alike.

Beyond his commercial career, Mike also served as a private yacht captain for a family operating two 63-foot yachts, seamlessly bridging the worlds of professional maritime operations and luxury yachting. That dual perspective gives him a rare understanding of what discerning yacht owners value most — reliability, expertise, and a captain’s intuition that only comes from decades on the water.

Life on the Water

Today, Mike and his wife call Punta Gorda Isles home, where they continue to enjoy the boating lifestyle aboard their own 45-foot yacht. For Mike, the ocean has never been just a profession — it’s a lifelong love affair that shapes every aspect of his life. He often jokes that he loves boats so much, he even named his daughter “Marina.”
