Description
This is a neat boat in a neat location, Madagascar
Her name is Glaz, which means a greenish, greyish, blue.
She's a gaff-rigged Fusionschooner, based on a Nigel Irens design, which was based off of a larger design—Maggie B (owned by Franck Blair), a 62 ft schooner built in Nova Scotia that was lost to fire in 2006. Maggie B was an ocean going vessel that sailed the world. So Glaz is a smaller version of a proven blue-water design.
Glaz is called a Fusionschooner, because she’s a fusion of classic wooden ship building, coated in fiber glass. She was built from scratch in Malaysia (where there is still high density wood in longer dimensions) by an excellent boat building team (Please see the Blogspot link below). She’s also equipped with carbon masts, designed by the high-tech composite specialist Julian Smith.
Glaz is easy to single-hand and truly one of a kind. Her current, and only, owner sailed her from Malaysia to Madagascar, where she is currently on a mooring in the harbor of Nosy Be, Madagascar, on the SE shore of the island, at the Aina Marina. She has been waging for a new captain to take her on more adventures and voyages. Her current owner really loves the boat and hates to let it go, but health issues are keeping him from keeping it.
Here’s blurb from the blogspot site on her hull design:
“As per Lloyd’s regulation hull will be 40mm thickness, in strip-planking/cold molded epoxy, with yellow meranti for the strip and two layer in diagonal of Philippine mahogany wood (red dark Luan) kiln dry, all the hull is completely encapsulated with bi-directional fiberglass, we use local epoxy type PRC#7 that was formulated by the U.S. Navy many years ago when they still had bases in the Philippines.
Bulkheads are marine sandwich Plywood/red Luan , all plywood are BS1088 standard, floor frame in massive red dark Luan, with epoxy lamination
Hull has an epoxy faring and final painting with polyurethane paint on Dupont hard built epoxy primer.”

Inspecting Any Yacht For Sale
When you find a yacht for sale of interest, the standard inspection sequence is: schedule an in-person viewing at the home marina, request additional photos or video of specific systems, schedule a sea trial under load (typically 4-6 hours running plus engine inspection), and commission a pre-purchase marine survey by a credentialed surveyor. Aspire coordinates each step. The full inspection cycle for a yacht for sale typically runs 2-4 weeks before final closing.
