About Back Cove
Back Cove exists because Sabre's dealers asked for it. They wanted a smaller downeast cruiser to sit under the Sabre line: the look and feel of a Maine lobster boat, but with a single diesel rather than two, for the economy and the simplicity that brings. Sabre started the sister company in 2003 and both now build at a 240,000 square foot plant in Rockland, Maine.
More than a thousand boats later they are cruising everywhere from Greece and Norway to Japan and New Zealand. Roughly 34 to 41 feet is the heart of the range, built on a production line with vacuum infusion, which is why the quality is so consistent boat to boat. The single engine is the point, not a compromise: lower fuel burn, one set of services, and a boat a couple can handle without help. They hold value strongly and used ones sell quickly.
