What a Price Cut Actually Tells You
It Is a Seller Who Has Decided to Sell
Every boat here has an owner who has just accepted less than they hoped for. That is the single most useful thing to know before you make an offer, and it is worth more than the size of the cut: a seller who has moved once will usually move again.
It Is Not the Same as Good Value
A boat reduced by twenty per cent from an ambitious number can still be dearer than the boat beside her that was priced properly from the first day. The reduction tells you about the seller, not about the boat. What tells you about the boat is what comparable hulls have actually closed at, and asking prices are public while closed prices are not.

Time on the Market Matters as Much
A cut in the first month is a correction. A cut after a year is a seller running out of patience, and a boat that has sat that long is usually one you can buy well below even the reduced number. We can tell you how long any boat here has been listed before you make an offer on her.
