About Bali
Bali was launched in 2014 by Olivier Poncin within the Catana Group, which had been building fast sailing catamarans at Canet-en-Roussillon since 1984 and which Poncin acquired in 2003. The first boat, the Bali 4.5, went in the water in September 2014 and the 4.3 followed weeks later.
The brand exists to do two things differently, and a buyer either wants them or does not. The foredeck is solid rather than trampolines, which adds a great deal of living space and costs some weight and some purist approval. And the aft "Bali door" lifts into the ceiling rather than sliding, turning cockpit and saloon into one room. They are cruising and charter boats rather than performance ones, and they have taken a large share of that market quickly.
