Christensen Yachts for Sale

Dave Christensen was a home builder and property developer in Vancouver, Washington, who retired at fifty, bought an 80-foot motor yacht, and decided he could do better. The shipyard followed in 1983 and went on to deliver forty-four yachts, almost all of them between 120 and 160 feet and all of them composite - which at that size is a genuine outlier, and the reason a Christensen is lighter, quieter and less troubled by corrosion than a metal boat of the same length.

Christensen stepped back in 2009 and the company spent years in legal and financial difficulty. The Vancouver facility was sold to Vigor in 2019 and the last yacht there was finished that June, with the business moving to Tellico Lake in Tennessee. So the fleet is small and finite. They are exceptionally well built and, because the name no longer carries a live yard's marketing behind it, they can be excellent value - the survey should look hard at the systems and at how the composite has been maintained around fittings.
