Cobia Yachts for Sale

Cobia is an old Florida outboard name and the company says its boatbuilding spans more than six decades. Yamaha owned it through the 1990s, building at Panama City alongside Century, and in April 2005 Maverick Boat Company bought the brand and moved production to its plant at Fort Pierce. Maverick already built Pathfinder bay boats and the Maverick and Hewes flats skiffs, and Malibu Boats bought the whole group in January 2021. Today's Cobias are center consoles and dual consoles of roughly 24 to 35 feet.

The 2005 change of hands is the line to keep in mind when you shop. Boats from the Maverick era are built at Fort Pierce with hull, stringers and transom infused together, metal backing plates behind the hardware and a heavier fit out, and the brand still has a dealer network behind it. Anything much older came from a different company in a different plant, so expect little factory help with parts and look closely at the transom, stringers and wiring. A Cobia prices below a Grady White or a Boston Whaler of the same length, which is rather the point of the brand.
