About Endeavour
John Brooks and Rob Valdes started Endeavour Yacht Corporation at Largo, Florida in 1974 building fiberglass cruising sailboats, and for a decade it was one of the larger American sailboat yards: designs from about 25 to 54 feet, roughly 600 Endeavour 32s, 476 Endeavour 37s, then the 40, 42 and 51, and at the 1984 peak 300 people building around 200 boats a year. The early 1980s recession ended it. The company went through bankruptcy and a series of owners, and the monohull business was finished by the late 1980s. The name then went to multihulls as Endeavour Catamaran Corporation, which built sailing and power cats from a Florida yard, and in July 2017 that company merged with Coastal Marine, the builder of ArrowCat, to form Endeavour Corporation at a 60,000 square foot yard and marina on the Clearwater and St Petersburg waterfront, selling Endeavour TrawlerCat and ArrowCat.
So there are two quite separate used markets under one name. The sailboats are 1970s and 1980s cruising boats: heavily built, beamy for their day, roomy below, slow by modern standards and cheap to buy. They suit a buyer who wants a liveaboard or a coastal cruiser at a low entry price and understands that a boat of that age is bought on its systems, its rig and its deck hardware, not its hull number. The catamarans are a much smaller and more recent pool, mostly Florida built power and sailing cats in the 30 to 48 foot range. There is no factory standing behind the old monohulls, so parts come from owner groups and the used market, and even on the catamarans you should confirm before you buy that anybody is still answering the phone for warranty or spares.
