About Everglades
Everglades was founded in 1999 by Bob Dougherty and his son Stephen, in Edgewater. Dougherty had spent years at Boston Whaler perfecting foam-injected hulls, and the process he patented here (RAMCAP, molding the structural foam separately before it goes into the hull) is what the company is built on. It won an NMMA innovation award and it makes the boats unsinkable.
The range is 23 to 45 feet, center consoles and dual consoles, and the pitch is fishing capability with the fit and finish of something more expensive. The foam construction makes them heavier than some rivals of the same length, which is exactly why they ride the way they do: worth knowing if you are comparing one against a lighter hull on speed alone.
What we know about Everglades
Everglades sit at the premium end, and the reputation rests on build quality, fit and finish, and ride comfort rather than on a price list.
The construction is the reason. Their close moulded RAMCAP process is built to make the hull unsinkable, rigid and structurally sound, with a high strength to weight ratio, and that is what you are paying for.
What owners talk about is the ride: dry and soft in a heavy chop, responsive on the helm, and a tight turning radius, from the 243 bay boat up through the larger offshore centre consoles. The detail is where the money shows too, the sliding tempered glass windshield with its wiper and wash, the helm ergonomics, the upholstery.
A 2013 325 has been sold through Aspire, and a 2017 355 CC is on the market with us now.
