Front Runner Yachts for Sale

Front Runner was started in November 2016 by Mark Lacovara and Phil Mahn, who had been buying, refitting and selling offshore boats in northeast Florida and decided they could build a better one. The first boats were twin stepped center consoles of 33, 36 and 39 feet, drawn by Erwin Gerards of EG Designs, sold factory direct and built in a leased shop with a couple of dozen people. The range has since grown to roughly 26 to 47 feet, including power catamarans of 35, 37 and 43 feet, a 55 foot catamaran and the 43 HTX monohull.

This is a young brand, so the used market is thin and the boats are close to new: expect low hours, quad outboards, towers and heavy electronics. The spec matters most, because each hull was ordered to its owner's wishes and the difference between two 39s can be six figures of rigging. Warranty comes next, on the engines and on the hull, since with boats this recent a transfer or the lack of one moves the price more than age does. A stepped hull also rewards a proper sea trial: run it in a chop and at slow speed, not just flat out.
