Hanse Yachts for Sale

Michael Schmidt, winner of the 1985 Admiral's Cup, started Hanse in an old East German yard at Greifswald in 1990. He showed the Hanse 291 at Düsseldorf in 1993 and took more than thirty orders off the stand. That boat set the formula: a self tacking jib, a simple deck layout and a big light interior for the length. Judel/Vrolijk drew the hulls from 1999 and Berret Racoupeau from 2018. Schmidt sold to the investor Aurelius in 2011, and the group also owns Dehler and Moody in sail, Fjord and Sealine in power.

There is a great deal of used Hanse about, much of it ex charter, between 31 and 50 feet: fast, easily handled cruisers with far more interior volume than a traditional design. The trade offs are a beamy hull that can be lively downwind and modular rather than joinered interiors. Check the keel bolts, rudder bearing and self tacking track. Aurelius sold control in 2025 to the entrepreneur Andreas Müller after heavy job cuts in Greifswald, so the yard is still launching new models but is mid restructuring.
