About Mainship
Mainship began in 1978 inside the Luhrs group and built trawlers at Millville and, from 1987, at St. Augustine in Florida. The boats did something unusual for their moment: trawler comfort and economy at a price ordinary owners could reach, in sizes from the low 30s upward.
Production consolidated back to New Jersey in 2011, the parent filed Chapter 11 in 2012, and the brand was acquired by David Marlow. What that leaves is a large, well-understood brokerage fleet of single-engine trawlers and pilot boats: cheap to run, easy to handle, and popular with owners doing the Great Loop or the Okeechobee. Survey the systems rather than the hull, as with any boat of this age.
