About Oceanfast
Don Johnston and John Farrell founded Oceanfast in 1983 at Henderson, near Fremantle in Western Australia, building fast custom superyachts in aluminum, mostly between 30 and 60 meters. The work is closely associated with Jon Bannenberg, whose designs defined the modern superyacht, and the combination of Australian aluminum fabrication with Bannenberg's drawing produced boats that still look ahead of their date.
Austal, the naval and commercial fast-ferry builder, bought Oceanfast in 1999, and the yacht brand eventually wound down. The fleet is small and every boat is a one-off. What you are buying is a lightweight aluminum hull built by people who also built fast ferries, usually with a striking interior and a refit history worth reading in full. Have the aluminum and the paint surveyed by somebody who does that specifically.
