Offshore Yachts runs out of Newport Beach and dates itself to 1948, with the boats built by Kha Shing in Kaohsiung. The naval architecture came from Bill Crealock, who spent forty years drawing boats meant to cross oceans, and it shows in the way an Offshore behaves in a seaway rather than in how it looks at the dock.

The range runs from the 54 Pilothouse up to the 87, all of it built around the same idea: a genuinely seakindly hull, a proper pilothouse you can stand a watch in, and joinery finished to a standard that has largely disappeared from production boatbuilding. They are bought by people who actually go somewhere - the Pacific Northwest, Mexico, the Great Loop - and they are not fast. Look at the hours, the generator, and the state of the teak; these boats reward a careful survey and hold their value better than almost anything of comparable age.
