About Robalo
Robalo dates from the late 1960s and made its name on tough saltwater fishing boats with a hull the company claimed was unsinkable. Brunswick bought it in 1991 and ran it inside US Marine from Tallahassee, Florida, and by 2001 it had all but stopped building. Marine Products Corporation, the Chaparral parent, bought it that June and rebuilt the operation in Georgia from nothing. Robalo has been built alongside Chaparral at Nashville, Georgia ever since. In May 2026 MasterCraft Boat Holdings completed its purchase of Marine Products, so Chaparral and Robalo now sit with MasterCraft, Crest and Balise, and MasterCraft said it would keep the two brands, their leadership and their people as a separate operating unit.
For a used buyer the dividing line is 2001. A post 2001 Robalo is a Chaparral built boat from a very large single site plant with a real dealer network, and that shows up in fit, parts availability and resale: the current range runs 22 to 30 feet in center console, dual console and Cayman bay boat form, and older versions of those same models are easy to place a value on. Anything older than 2001 is a different company that happens to share the name, so price it as an orphan and survey it as one. On any outboard Robalo the boat normally outlasts the engines, so the engine hours, service history and the age of the rigging will drive the number more than the hull will. If a boat is still inside its factory warranty, get written confirmation of transfer before closing rather than assuming the change of owner at corporate level has left it intact.
