Sacs was founded in Italy in 1989 and built its name on the maxi RIB: a large fiberglass hull with inflatable tubes around it, finished to yacht standards rather than as a workboat. The Strider range came first, the Rebel range of 40 to 55 footers arrived in 2017, and the company also builds tenders for larger yachts and, since 2020, a walkaround line. It is based at Roncello, north east of Milan. In 2021 Sacs and Tecnorib, which has held the Pirelli license for inflatable boats since 2005, combined into Sacs Tecnorib, now trading as SACS Marine.

Buyers meet these boats in two ways: as the tender that came with a larger yacht, or as a fast Mediterranean style day boat. Either way the tubes are the part that dates. Ask what fabric they are, when they were last replaced and what a re tube would cost, because on a large RIB that figure drives the asking price. Check the bond between hull and tubes and the glued seams, and treat engine hours carefully, since tenders are often run hard in short bursts. Parts and tube work come from Italy, so allow time for anything a local shop cannot make.
