The part that matters most is the least glamorous. In a business where custom new builds routinely run years late and far over budget, Westport are legendary for delivering on time and on budget. They pioneered high quality modular composite series production: perfected hull moulds reused, standardised engine and system layouts, and the engineering faults found and fixed across dozens of earlier hulls. A buyer is getting a tested platform rather than a prototype.

They also pioneered the country kitchen forward galley, on the 112 above all, which puts the cooking and the company in the same room instead of hiding the galley with the crew. American owners wanted that long before the industry agreed.

Because there are so many of them afloat, the brokerage market is liquid. Buyers know exactly what they are getting, which holds residual value up against the obscure custom builds. Charter captains like them for the same reasons: the layouts work for crew, the mechanical systems have redundancy designed in, and parts are straightforward to find.
