About Marquis
Marquis was launched in 2004 as Carver's move upmarket, built alongside Carver in the Pulaski, Wisconsin plant that had turned out volume motor yachts since 1956. The point of difference was the styling: Carver brought in Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard from Venice to draw the exteriors, and the 59 and 65 that opened the range look nothing like the boats the company was building next door.
More than a hundred of the 65 were built between 2005 and 2008. Carver and Marquis both stopped in July 2021 and the Pulaski plant went to Cruisers Yachts' parent, so everything on the market is brokerage. What you are buying is a well-built American hull under Italian styling that has aged unusually well - and the value is in the boats that were looked after, because the parts situation on a discontinued brand rewards a careful owner and punishes a neglectful one.
