Halit Yukay founded Mazu in 2011 at twenty nine, after growing up in Istanbul, studying industrial and yacht design in Florida and working for other Turkish builders. The yard sits at Altınova near Yalova on the Sea of Marmara, about 7,000 square meters under cover, and it started by building fast chase boats for superyacht owners before growing into whole motor yachts. The line now runs from the 38 up to the 132 DS at just over forty meters, and every one of them came off Yukay's own drawing board. Yukay was killed on 4 August 2025 when his own boat was struck by a cargo ship in the Sea of Marmara. The company has continued building.

These are properly engineered boats rather than styling exercises: the 82 is an epoxy sandwich hull with carbon reinforcement, certified to CE category A, on twin Volvo Penta IPS drives for forty knots. For an American buyer the IPS package is the reassuring part, because every serious yard in South Florida works on Volvo pods and the parts are on the shelf here. The rest needs checking. Mazu builds to European specification, so expect 230 volt 50 hertz systems unless the original owner ordered otherwise, and price in a transformer or an inverter package if the boat is going to spend its life on American shore power. Confirm that duty was paid when the boat entered the United States and ask to see the entry. Sales in the United States have run through brokerage houses rather than a factory service base, so budget for a specialist rather than a dealer when something structural needs the builder's attention.
