SES Yachts for Sale

SES Yachts is a family shipyard at Tuzla, the yard district on the Asian side of Istanbul, founded by Sefer Yildirim in the 1970s and now in its third generation. It is a custom house rather than a series builder: every project starts from a blank sheet, and the yard works in aluminum, steel, composite and epoxy laminated wood depending on what the boat is for, with engineering, construction and outfit including the joinery done in house. More than ninety yachts have been delivered, from 20 to 42 meters, and the order book runs to three more between 26 and 42 meters. Boats offered under this name range from a 23 meter composite motor yacht lying in Turkey to a 44 meter aluminum long range sport yacht sold as a project for later delivery.

Two quite different purchases hide behind this badge, so be clear which one you are making. A completed SES lying in Turkey or the Mediterranean is a used foreign flagged yacht: expect European specification throughout, 220 volt 50 hertz electrics, metric plumbing and CE rather than ABYC wiring practice, and price in what it costs to bring her here. That means ocean transport or a delivery crew, US duty if it has never been paid, a US flag and documentation exercise, and a refit yard here comfortable with a European aluminum or composite build. There is no dealer network in Florida and no parts counter: spares for the machinery come from the equipment makers, and anything structural goes back to the yard or to a Fort Lauderdale metal shop. The other purchase is a contract on a design that has not been built yet, which is a shipyard contract with stage payments, a specification, a build supervisor and a delivery date, and it should be treated as construction rather than as buying a boat. On either route get an independent survey, and on a new build independent supervision. The yard's record is good and it has been at this for fifty years, but distance is the risk you are managing.
