About Hargrave
Hargrave began in 1957 as the design office of Jack Hargrave, one of the American naval architects who defined the look of the post-war motor yacht - his drawings went to Burger, Trumpy, Amels, Rybovich and Hatteras. After his death in 1996 the firm turned from designing other people's boats to building its own, under Michael Joyce from 1997, and has done so since.
The yachts are custom, roughly 80 to 150 feet, designed in Fort Lauderdale and built in Taiwan. Custom means what it says: no two are the same, so a Hargrave is valued on her specification and her refit history rather than on comparables. The office being in Fort Lauderdale matters to an owner - the people who drew her are twenty minutes from where she lies.
